Hi, Maureen,

Thanks for your concern. It's definitely not insulinoma. The blood
glucose tests were fasting. This morning her blood glucose was 98.
She doesn't have hind end weakness: it was the front end. She is
asymptomatic today.

Best guess as of right now is lymphoma. I have to decide whether or
not to spend on an ultrasound. We did that with Ella six months ago
and it showed absolutely nothing except an enlarged illiac lymph node
which we now believe was due to chronic gastrointestinal issues.
Ella's problem disappeared after a course of antibiotics which were
prescribed for a scratch on her eye, of all things. No more enlarged
lymph node, no more diarrhea, nothing at all.

Our current vet is aggressive (too aggressive, in my opinion) and I
did not permit her to do a surgical biopsy on Ella at age eight.
Similarly, I am not going to allow Zephyr to be put under at her age
unless it is absolutely necessary. It's just too risky. Considering
that limitation we may never have a definitive diagnosis.

If we start treating based on a guess of lymphoma the first step is to
start her on prednisolone and see if there is any improvement. How do
you tell if there is improvement in a ferret that has symptoms once
every two months? It's all terribly frustrating.

Anyway, thanks again for your concern.

All the best,
Caity
