To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

No crusting. I just realized I did not write in my usual "we have a vet appointment tomorrow". That was because I had noticed it after the vet was closed, and was staying up all night worrying, waiting for 8am (yes, how crappy, they only answer calls at 8 not 7). They said come on down - so I packed up an adrenal ferret who has had urination issues along with the two girls and off we went. Grey survived his surgery. The girls spent the day waiting and eventually when we knew Grey was out of surgery and alive, we went to my friends' house nearby till we could pick him up.

The ferrets have over $1500 of diagnostics for adrenal disease and other diseases done at another veterinarian who is not releasing their records to us. I have had the former owner contact the vet to put a release on the records, but they still have not transferred anything. There is no reliable age since the ferrets were dumped and then taken in by the former owner.

When the owner told her vet that she was trying to adopt them out, he told her that was not a good idea and gave her a huge guilt trip. Hopefully we get the records soon.

I am wondering if the heart problem suggestion may be what is going on. I think the redness is reduced on the top of the face, and the paws, but the bottom of the chin is still red. The stress of coming to a new place may have aggravated it.

I'm watching them carefully for any sign that they are getting "worse". Or if I can find something for my vet to go after. If the paperwork is not transferred on Monday I will just get them full bloodwork/diagnostics at my vet. Legally I don't know what recourse I have as far as getting their records if they decide not to let the old owner release the records to my vet.

xxxxxxx
