Just a little more:

If enough tissue remains the ferret will produce those steroids on his/
her own. If enough does not remain now then the ferret will either
need the meds temporarily or permanently depending on which tissues
regrow at which rate over time. Yes, it is possible to regrow the
hormonal tissue of the tumor faster than the normal steroid producing
normal tissues if not all of the affect tissue could be removed so a
ferret can have adrenal disease (in which case Lupron Depot or
Suprelorin will be used) while still needing meds to avoid going
Addisonian.

In some ferrets after adrenal surgery regular use of slowly releasing
Lupron Depot (not the 24 hour form of Lupron which can even worsen
adrenal disease) or Suprelorin (not the horse form of deslorelin which
is not time release so carries the same risk as the 24 hour Lupron) is
done routinely on a regular schedule after a diseased adrenal has been
removed to try to avoid or treat potential problems with the other one.
