Subject: [ferrethealth] Ketofen
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a boy who was injured as a kit and now has arthritis issues from it. Is Ketofen safe for ferrets?

[Note that for anesthesia gas is typically far safer for
ferrets with Iso or Sevo being the ones of choice in
past vet posts. Don;t confuse it with ketamine.

In _Ferrets, Rabbits and Rodents, clinical medicine
and surgery, 2nd ed._
on page 442 it says Ketoprophen 1 mg/kg PO,SC, IM q 24
but I lack time to check the other veterinary texts here.

I have no idea how good or bad these refs are:

Ketofen is in analgesics a bit more than 1/4 of the way down:

pages 14 and 15 are listed as having ferret info but I lack
time to check.
