Have the vet check it out!

There may be a small mast cell tumor starting up, which can be terribly itchy, although he is fairly young. He may have fleas, which aren't always visible until there is a major infestation. Could be an insect bite of another kind. There's just too many possibilities best to take him to a vet.

Ear mites stick to ears in ferrets. Mineral oil will not get rid of ear mites. He needs to be treated professionally with either something like Milbemite ear drops or Revolution, etc. that you can only get from a vet. Revolution will get rid of both ear mites and fleas.
