Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: BALD BABY FERRET????
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I do not know who the man was selling the ferrets. My husband and I were at a Swap Meet kinda a Pet Expo for there were lots of sellers with live animals there. We had no plans on bring home a new pet it just happen. These babies 3 of them were in a 10 gal fish tank no food or water with them only pee soaked newspaper in bottom of tank. The smell was bad from all the heat that day.

My husband can get very rude when it comes to seeing animal being mistreated. When he seen these babies it was obvious they were coming home with us. I just wanted to get them and him out of there before he said something to piss the seller off and he refuse to let us take them.

We do care about them dearly and are quite worried about the little one hoping she will be O.K. I did order the book Ferrets For Dummies and I will slowly get them over to a better diet. I have been cooking their chicken & turkey in a little unsalted butter. I hate to feed raw for fear of salmonella. I do not want them to get that.

How would I know if they have been spayed they are all females? Seller did say they had their first distemper shot and our vet did do a booster shop on 2 of them last week. She is holding off on giving the bald one shots till we find out what is wrong with her.

She is growing like a weed now and catching up to the 2 bigger ones in size. In checking the tooth chart they are 11 weeks now even though she looks much younger to some of you. Cupcake still is not showing any signs of hair growth but we will keep looking for an answer to why she is this way.

I do not know if they all come from the same litter but was told they were all born the same day. So I am guessing they are sisters maybe not. They look alike only Cupcake is a runt she is only half the size of the other 2.

Want to thank everyone for all of their help and recommendations here this is a big help to us. These are our first ferrets and I would like it to be an enjoyable experiences. We will give them a good home for as long as they are on this earth. All of you here with the advice you are giving us will help us do this for them.
