Subject: [ferrethealth] Tufts Protocol?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My ferret, age 4 when she underwent the protocol, had a good response to it=
.=C2=A0 She presented with swollen nodes in her neck and in the lower abdom=
en just above her hind legs.=C2=A0 Biopsy was done which showed lymphoma.=
=C2=A0 Chest xray was done showing a mass in=C2=A0the mediastinum area.=C2=
=A0 She was started on the protocol in Jan 2009.=C2=A0 We completed it in J=
uly 2009.=C2=A0 She tolerated the protocol very well. The only thing was so=
metimes she had a low blood count and we either postponed a week or cut the=
dosage for that week.=C2=A0 We re-xrayed her at week 6 and the mass in her=
chest was gone.=C2=A0 She was xrayed 2 times more during protocol and no r=
ecurrence of the mass.=C2=A0 I had her checked again about 6 months after w=
e finished and still no mass.=C2=A0 To date, she is doing very well.=C2=A0 =
No indication of swollen nodes, good weight, appetite and the rest.=C2=A0 P=
rayerfully, she will continue with this good result with no recurrence but =
time will tell of course.=C2=A0 Given her good
response and good tolerance of the protocol I would definitely do it again=
if another fuzzie gets lymphoma.=C2=A0 The only thing with her is that som=
e of the oral meds tasted so bad that it was months before she trusted me a=
gain with a syringe with ferratone in it!!!=C2=A0 She's good now!!
