Hi, Amanda, and everyone else,
With all due respect to your vet the canned cat food is not the right
answer. Your pureed chicken is closer. Please look at:
http://www.trifl.org/gravy.shtml I've used Bob Church's Chicken Gravy
to put weight on sick, skinny and recovering ferrets and it is
nutritionally balanced for them. The pressure cooker method is pretty
easy. You can get the nutrical and ferretone online if they are not
available in your area. If Katarina doesn't take to it at first dab a
little on her nose and she will lick it off. Almost all ferrets come
to love the stuff.
Other than that I would use high quality ferret food, not anything for
cats or dogs or any other animals.
I do think Katarina is going to need to see a ferret vet so a trip to
someplace like Edmonton may, unfortunately, be in order. Hopefully
someone can recommend a good ferret vet there for you. I realize it
is very far away but i may be what saves your little one.

[Meat by itself is not balanced, though, since it lacks
and is low in many minerals and more. The recipe
Caity mentions has much more than meat.
a/d is often used as a recovery food for ferrets, BTW.
