The Deslorelin implant does not need to be removed.

You will find some people strongly recommend surgery others prefer to medically manage the condition with either Lupron Depot or the Deslorelin implant.

My vet prefers the Deslorelin implant over surgery because in our experience, even with adrenal surgery it eventually comes back. Others have had more positive experiences with adrenal surgery and have not had a recurrence.

If it is an ovarian remnant the Deslorelin should help with that as well.

Another rare complication is stump pyometra, which is a major infection in the uterine stump if its not been entirely removed. However, there's usually a smelly discharge of pus from the vulva in that case and the ferret is quite ill.
