Jessica:

The current problem may or may not be related to the original problem that required the surgery. One symptom of adrenal disease that often affects males is an enlarged prostate, which makes urinating difficult and, when bad enough, can cause a complete urinary blockage. If this happens then you only have a few hours to get him to a vet to have the bladder relieved, or he will die. I hope this is not the case, but you must proceed as if it is for his own safety.

If you don't have surgery to remove the affected adrenal gland then you can try to manage the adrenal disease medically. Melatonin implants help, but usually not nearly enough when the disease progresses. Lupron Depot would then be needed, or a Deslorelin implant, but this must be ordered from Australia and takes time. The enlarged prostate might be helped by Lupron Depot, but it will take some time to take effect, maybe a week or two, and in the meantime he'll still be in danger of blocking. There are meds like Propecia and flutamide to help the prostate, and there may be others. You really need to find a ferret knowledgeable vet immediately and get him there for evaluation and to get his bladder relieved if he has not urinated.

If he has more advanced adrenal disease, then you should ask the vet to use a larger dose of Lupron Depot. From my own experience, I would go with at least 1.0 mg in a 4-month depot shot.

He needs some sort of emergency vet help immediately. Try this link to see if there are any recommended ferret vets in your area:
