[It can actually be hard from a distance to know how bad a
ferret is and how many options might be possible, so it
is easy for people to think that things are either worse OR
better than they are. That winds up sometimes causing
concerned and loving worry. The people still mean the best.

We've been in the position where people took descriptions
wrong, and I think that at some point each person here will
be in the position of either receiving advice which is not
quite right for the timeframe, or giving such advice.

The big things to know are:
1. only someone who is right there can assess the situation best
and that means a close conversation with the vet about
behavior at home combined with discussing options.
2. when the time comes providing a mercy shot is the final,
loving gift a person can give to a suffering animal
3. very sick ferrets often do seem to be on a roller coaster
4. sometimes the situation can change dramatically in either
direction, depending on responses to medical approaches, or
something very major going wrong.

Every response that was sent to this person would have been sent
with love and with the ferret's and person's best interests in mind.
