You can request that the teaching hospital fax the pathology report to your vet.

Has a chest x-ray been done?

That should show what is going on in his lungs.

Lymphoma can originate in or mestasize to the lung area.

I had a ferret who we strongly suspected had lymphoma - all his peripheral lymph nodes were hard and enlarged. He was put on a chemo protocol and was in remission for a couple of months (lymph nodes shrank in size).

One day I noticed his breathing was different, by the following morning he was making an odd clicking sound on each breath. X-rays revealed a large mass in his chest that displaced his heart and had pushed his lungs against the chest wall. The vet said it was a miracle he could breathe at all. We chose euthanasia before his lungs collapsed altogether. Necropsy confirmed lymphoma.

Your little one may have another condition i.e., pneumonia, congestive heart failure, etc. or it could be lymphoma.

X-rays should confirm what is going on.
