Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Looking for some advice/help
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

i have been told that flattening out and just laying there was a sign of stomach.. upset and or pain.
glad to see such wonderful improvements
When mine had breathing problems it helped him to lay with his body and head vertically. i would let him lay on me in that position and his breathing would get better.

[Individuals are going to vary on that account.
If the ferret is not pumping blood well then it
is best to not keep the head substantially
higher than the body because it will be that
much harder to pump up the blood and the
things it carries like oxygen and sugar to
fuel the brain.

An open chest position, whether vertical or
horizontal does make breathing easier. Try
it on yourself with shoulders back and ribs able
to move vs. shoulders and back hunched. The
first position creates an open chest that
enables deeper breaths, so maybe either
vertically or horizontally that would give some
comfort while answers and hopefully treatment
geared to the individual's test results are sought.
