I have found the effects are staggered. Quickest was reduced swelling in vulva and redness diminished in irritated penis by Day 3. The last effect appears to be hair regrowth and that can take up to 3 months. And everything in-between at varying rates of improvement.
Another ferret who came in with a hugely swollen vulva took about 2 months for her vulva to do down and in her case it never went back to a completely normal size. She's just received her second Deslorelin implant after a year because her vulva had started to swell again.
I had several implanted last summer and have another male who is now getting his second implant tomorrow.
On average in my tiny sample of 8 ferrets who received them last year, the Deslorelin implant appears to last anywhere from 12-14 months before clinical symptoms start reappearing.
