Subject: [ferrethealth] E Coli Free
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

We just got the call from the vets.AND no shiga toxins ever. This is awesome news.

Now,my vet had all kids on Tetracycline for 5 days to clear up the E Coli.It worked!!!

[Sandra, how many ferrets passed away during this
and how many took damage?

Does your vet think that one of the non-shiga toxin
producing E. coli subspecies was present, or if the
E. coli seen was just the normal ferret E. coli?

Did any of the strains of coccidia show up in the testing?
Was the testing done by one of the extremely ferret
knowledgeable testing labs like the one at Michigan
State or NW Zoopath, or by someplace else? Please,
don't give the name. I am just wondering if the place knows
enough to look for both sizes of coccidia because not all
labs do, and if the place can do the fine testing to
differentiate among species, not just genera, of the parasite,
which most labs can't.
