My 6+ year-old Sadie has been on B12/B-complex sub-q injections twice a week now for a year. We almost lost her due to suspected pancreatitis and then after a month of heavy care - her weight started plummeting.
Nothing we tried worked! My vet said she was dying. I started searching around for ferret experts to assist us and a wildlife/exotics vet in WA suggested the B12/B-complex! It turned her around completely. Within days her appetite returned and she had a bounce in her step and shine in her eye.
I have tried cutting her back to once a week, but each time I do she slides back very quickly. So in her case she'll be maintained on the twice weekly dose for the rest of her life.
She still stashes her jingle balls and hisses at the youngsters if they get too rambunctious.
