Hi, Liz, and everyone else,

Then don't move to North Carolina. Our revised rabies vaccination law
makes no exceptions for any reason. The net result is that the last
time I had my three to the vet she had to push for vaccination even
though she knew that Chin Soon and Zephyr both had histories of severe
reactions and both are ~7 years old. Our current vet is the one who
gave the older estimate of Ella's age, the one that would mean that
she is 9 years old. (I usually go with the younger estimate.) Still,
she is required by law to tell me that Ella should be vaccinated.

Yes, my ferrets were examined and treated as needed and no, none were
vaccinated as in at least two cases the vaccination would probably be
life threatening. Your mileage may vary...

All the best,
Caity and the terrific trio (Ella, Zephyr and Chin Soon)
