Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: my 5 yr old boy ferret is very thin & sick - please help
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I'm sorry to hear about your situation - I had to put my ferret to sleep yesterday after she suddenly developed symptoms on Friday that seemed to come out of nowhere and I was faced with spending thousands of dollars at the emergency clinic over the weekend (taking her home without access to professional care wasn't an option given the symptoms she was presenting). It is an excruciatingly difficult choice to have to make. I'm afraid you may have to make that choice as well if your ferret is suffering and nothing can be done for him short of spending thousands of dollars that you don't have and can't get ahold of. Even if people were to offer advice here he would still need to be seen by a vet and would still need to have follow-up procedures (blood test, ultrasound, etc.). I feel bad for you, especially considering what I just went through, and hope you can keep him as comfortable as possible for the time being.
