Subject: [ferrethealth] Hind Leg Amputation
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I did a search and didn't find much on hind leg amputations. Jacksoin was fin yesterday morning and when I came home from work last night he would not put weight on his right hind leg. Today, x-rays showed bone density loss just below the ball going into the hip. He is undergoing a biopsy right now. It was explained that it could be cancer, an infection of the bone or a fungal infection. If it is cancer and the leg needs to be taken what should I look for in recovery and do they do well with one hind leg? If it is an infection, what antibiotics are usually used?
