Hi Meryl,

My Linguini was on pimobendan for heart block/bradycardia. Unfortunately, it is extremely bitter and she did not tolerate it very well. It was causing her so much distress that the cardiologists recommended taking her off it because it was more harmful than beneficial in her particular case.

I also found that she did not tolerate warmer temperatures very well, for example, when I was transporting her to vet clinic for regular monitoring i.e., EKGs.

My home environment is kept at around 65F year-round but the ambient air temperature outside was 75F. Although the trip to the vet was only 15 minutes it was enough to cause her problems when it was that warm outside.

[Pimobendan is used instead of Digoxin because
less careful observation and testing for side effects
is needed with it than with Digoxin. We had very
good luck with Digoxin which got a ferret, Meltdown,
we had with ventricular bigemini and sometime
trigemini a very extended amount of time. I forget
the exact amount but think that it was over a year.

These are very useful past posts on the meds in
the easily used separate FHL Archives which can be
linked to from multiple places in the FHL homepage:
