Subject: [ferrethealth] Digestive problem

Is it possible for a ferret to stop producing, or reduce his production of, the bacteria or enzymes that are needed for proper digestion? If so, what might be the possible causes?

[BTW, Pancreatic enzymes will be coming
under new regulations according to the
latest Epocrates Clinical Update which
includes

Now, the FDA is requiring all PEPs be approved.
Unapproved products are being discontinued
and new approved products (with new brand
names) are on the market. Practitioners should
be aware that PEPs are not interchangeable

I do NOT know if that will include ones for
veterinary use.

PEP stands for Pancreatic Enzyme Products.
