Dear Karen,
=C2=A0
According to a researcher (not sure if I may mention his name) not only doe=
s hyperadrenocorticism manifest itself in different ways, as you say, but a=
lso it might be that all ferrets will develop adrenal tumors. Some of them =
only do not show the signs associated with the disease.

To this day - best prevention of this condition is a suprelorin implant in =
entire=C2=A0and surgically neutered ferrets of both sexes.

Yours,
Christina

[Well, I know for a fact that some ferrets can live long lives with=20
no adrenal disease. Ours used to be used for teaching purposes
after they passed, complete with pathology done, and a number
had no adrenal disease ever. Of course, some did. One had
asymptomatic adrenal disease found after death, but none
of our other ones who passed after a full life without known
adrenal disease had any adrenal disease show up, even with
pathology results.

These were almost all early neutered ones. As is already known,
whole ferrets have a lowered chance of adrenal disease than
neutered ones.
