Hi Mike,

Sounds like you are doing everything right i.e., vet care, extra feedings, etc.

If you haven't already done so, have his blood glucose checked. He may have developed insulinoma not uncommon at his age. I would also cut out the treats except for the ferret kibble treats.

In the interim keep up the regular duk soup feedings. I would add A/D or Carnivore Care to the soup mix as well to increase the caloric value of his food. See if he'll accept crushed or softened kibble as part of the soup mix.

I have seniors who are exclusively on duk soup and do well, although it does require extra feedings on your part. I wouldn't cut back on those anymore. He will likely require them for the remainder of his life. And if he is insulinomic, regular feedings are going to be more important to keep his BG stable.
