Subject: [ferrethealth] importation of Suprelorin to the U.S.
To: fhl <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

I am trying to find out EXACTLY what
forms the FDA requires for
importation to the U.S. for my vets
and for several other FHL vet members.
Is there anything beyond the specific
documents I mention here that are
needed?

We've all been terribly short of time. Sorry.
It would just help to hear from those who
personally have successfully imported this
to the U.S. to understand their experiences
and what paperwork they provided.

I realize that I have to read
FDA Regulatory Procedures Manual March 2009 Chapter 9.2
for further information
http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/ComplianceManuals/RegulatoryProceduresManual/default.htm
( Direct: http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/ComplianceManuals/RegulatoryProceduresManual/ucm179266.htm
)

Also that orders are mailed directly to Rosie Warren or Katie Yeates
rwarren@peptech.com
kyeates@peptech.com
at Peptech

Peptech will need a copy of the veterinary registration certificate of
the veterinarian(s) who will be using the product.

A letter for customs on clinic letterhead to accompany the shipment to
the USA
is needed and Peptech has sent an example on that score.

Then they send the invoice and shipment happens after payment is
received by credit card or direct debit electronic transfer.

Each dose comes in a pre-loaded implanter ready for use

There is no minimum size order.

Most of the cost is currently in shipping. (Once there is a U.S.
distributor
that could be reduced.) Then there will, of course, be the hospital
costs:
examination, gas (if used) etc. These are in Australian dollars so
convert to
U.S. dollars to know how they compare.

Suprelorin 4.7mg: AUD$38.00 per implant

Suprelorin12 9.4mg: AUD$75.00 per implant

+ Freight: approximately AUD$80-120 (depending on the size of the order)

We currently are planning a replacement for a ferret who probably has an
adrenal carcinoma (the thing is huge) at 8 months instead of the usual
12 months for this implant, and a yearly preventative one each for a
five year
old and a six year old with hopes of neither having adrenal disease in
their
lifetimes.

A posted walk-through of the steps and what paperwork was needed
by someone with actual experience would help a number of people.
