Subject: [ferrethealth] Blocked sent glands
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com, F M L <ferret-L@listserv.ferretmailinglist.org>

I have a 4ish year old ferret.=A0 He was fixed but not descended because he=
was a late neuter.
=A0
He is a real sweetheart and handsome champagne.
=A0
I noticed that he has a lump oblong in shape a little 3/4=A0inch long and a=
bout 1/2 wide=A0on one side of his anus and another a little smaller on the=
other side.
=A0
I'm guessing these are blocked scent glands.=A0 I've never had to deal with=
this and I really don't know what should be done=A0about them.=A0 He doesn=
't seem to be bothered by=A0right now but ferrets are so good at hiding=A0p=
ain and illness.
=A0
Any suggestions?=A0 I do plan on getting him to the vet but I don't know if=
this is an=A0asap thing or if it can wait=A0for payday (actually I need a =
couple=A0paydays).=A0 If its and asap thing then I'll find a way but I need=
to know what I'm dealing with.=A0 His welfare=A0is most important.
=A0
Thanks
=A0
