Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Any FDA okayed Leuprolide Acetate depot AS THE GENERIC?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Bill Gruber sent me a note that it appears to be 2016 before the current U.S. patents for Lupron Depot expire. Many thanks! So, unless the creator of the depot asks for a generic sooner that is the soonest there can be a generic of it in the U.S. If they work up a modification or variation then it can be later. So, extra cautions to anyone thinking of buying something claiming to be generic version of Lupron depot over the internet (and the reminder that it could be seized because it is in direct competition with actual U.S. patented Lupron depot).

I was told by one person that on searching she found that the one she was thinking of turned out to be manufactured in Asia for a European company, then sent to Europe, and finally sold through a Canadian website. It sounded like she decided to stick with either Lupron depot or Suprelorin (which lasts longer and also winds up costing less over time as a result as well as appearing to work better for adrenal carcinoma -- which is not the typical adrenal growth but does happen) the last I heard despite the wait.

Also, I was warned that sometimes the injection site can become infected and someone who has gone through that is planning to monitor response in case that might compromise the implant.
