I'm using prednisolone now, 1.0 mg daily divided into two doses (Pop weighs about 3 lbs). It's the only thing that's helped, and it has shown immediate positive response. I hope it continues to help. I didn't want to have to resort to pred, but when he began having the butterscotch pudding and mucous poops, I had no choice, having tried just about everything else. I talked with the vet today, and his fecal culture came back basically okay, including testing for several bacteria. That means that it's more likely that we're dealing with IBD or lymphoma. I tried flagyl once. He flipped out and almost hurt himself. Not worth the risk. It's a great med, if only they could make it palatable to ferrets.

[Was he checked for insulinoma?
Insulinoma does not usually cause
mucus w feces BUT it OFTEN causes
diarrhea which looks like
butterscotch pudding, so often so
that one of our past vets who
moved out of state always checked
blood sugar when it looked like
that.
