The question that leaps to mind is whether Vet #2 took another x-ray and/or ultrasound to rule out the 'mass' the Emergency Vet saw? Or did he view the original films?
The ER Vet may have been correct all along, that is, you've been dealing with a mass (i.e., lymphoma - other neoplasia).
