Subject: [ferrethealth] weakness and abnormal behavior
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I've been posting on here for the last month now on various health issues with 2 of my 6/7 year old boys. One did pass last month (Loki) who was having major health problems. However Nike was fine until right about the time of losing his partner. Since then I thought he was depressed and grieving the loss, but after taking him for a check up I realized his Blood Glucose level was at 25 (which I feel was due to a bad pred bottle, however it was dangerously low for almost 2 weeks).....Now after using a different bottle and also getting it adjusted, his glucose has been checked and its good 100. But he is still not the same which brings me here again. When I took him for his checkup to see what could possibly be wrong the vet said he looked and felt great, a little over weight 3.03lbs but thats ok she said.

His bloodwork came back and I got a copy. Since the vet is not an exotic vet and the species listed on the bloodwork says DOG I just want to make sure that the values its comparaing it to on the paper is correct. The vet sent the bloodwork out since she wanted to get correct readings and not use the in house lab readings meant for dogs and cats. If anyone is good at reviewing and understanding blood work please look at Nekays results below and let me know if something is high/low.

Urine Test:
Clarity 1.031
Ph 6.0

Dr. said urine and fecal were normal and no bacteria/parasites seen so will not put all details on urine unless someone responds to do so.

Now on the cbc, some have normal ranges and some don't...so on the ones that say within normal limits...are they comparing them to a dog? And on the others I have no clue whats normal. According to the range, the Phosphorus is low, creatinine is high, Hct is high, Lymphocytes, monocytes, and eosinophil is all high...but again is the range given on the papers for a dog or ferret?

Although his glucose is normal again, he has no energy, seems to have a hard time holding himself up on the back end (so he lays to eat and if hes awake just lays on the floor, sleeps most of the time, has not played since Loki passed, and sleeps in weird places and awkward positions (positions which he never has for the 7 years I've had him). He used to love his hammocks but I don't think he can get up into them anymore more. He also only eats duck soup (has not eaten kibble since Loki passed). He is just not the same.

My questions are: Is their anything on the CBC that is a red flag?
Could he be having problems holding himself up due to the weight gain...went from 2.60lbs to 3.03lbs?
Could the 2+ weeks of not getting pred for his insulumina damaged him from the extreme lows he had with glucose?
What tests (if any) should I do next?
What does Absolute Lymphocyte 1836 mean on the CBC results?
Could Lymphoma be the reason for his behavior? If so, I have him on prednislone .50 ml 3x day dosage 1.34 mg/ml...should I increase it or decrease it?

He is 7 years old next month. Was diagnosed with Insulomia last April and I think also has adrenal disease from clinical signs (has deslorlin implant for adrenal). He does not appear to be in pain, but just seems to be a breathing machine the last month and a half....does not appear happy to be living. Please email me if you any clue to whats going on with him.

Thanks,
Marcy
