Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: liver failure with blood work
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

A few times I have had my ferret's bloodwork out of whack (liver or kidneys or both) and have found it is due to an infection from really bad teeth. Have found this especially with the DMK ferrets. My vet will put them on antibiotic treatment for about 14 days, retest and when values improve, they are given a dental which does make a big difference. I have to brush one of my kids teeth everyday because his teeth are so bad (gingervitis, etc.) He has had all his molars pulled within about 2 months because they were so bad. He eats soup, no cruchies.
