Subject: [ferrethealth] Enlarged Penis

I adopted my very first ferret about 2 1/2 months ago. I know that they have a 'belly button' type penis, and this being my first ferret, I didn't think anything of it.
The previous owners never said anything about it either, so I didn't even think about it.
When I got him, I brought him to the vet, she said that it is immflammed, but he doesn't seem bugged by it when she was checking it out. She told me too keep an eye on it as it could be cancer.
Well about once a week I look at it, and it's getting bigger and bigger. The vet said she wanted to take a biospy of it and check it out. but I didn't have money at the time.
I guess my question is, how many of you have heard of penis cancer.. It's getting to the point where in the next week or so, I think i'm going to have to get him a biopsy for it. I'm really scared. Waht does a biopsy consist of? Will be be put under?
He's ~4 years old. and has a great personality.
