Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Ferret shampoo for dandruff
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

She's recently been to the vet- in fact she's only 6 months old. In her 5th month she came into season and was checked out by a vet then, who gave her a hormone shot to take her out of season. We've got her scheduled for a spay next week. The only health issue we've found on her is she's got a heart arhythmia- she'll be getting a radiograph(I think that's what it was called) while she's under for the spay to determine more details about this condition. But I'm wondering if maybe the hormone treatment may've triggered this dandruff. We only noticed this yesterday though (she had the hormone shot ~3 weeks ago) - we bathed her yesterday and haven't seen it back since (but then again we probably haven't waited long enough since the bath before checking).

[What type of arrhythmia? Anesthesia is not
recommended for some types. What
anesthesia will be used? Has an EKG/ECG
been done? The ferret can be awake for that
and certainly can be awake for most x-rays/
radiographs and ultrasounds, too.

A past FHL ferret with a heart problem instead
uses a Suprelorin implant instead of
neutering.

How often are you bathing her? That alone can
dry skin.
