I am very confused....
Poe lost appetite yesterday.. He is a big boy and he did drink soup etc...

[How much did he eat? How much fluid? What did you give him?]

lethargic, yes... but alert and still moved around, put his favorite things in his "places"... He just was sleeping more but he is older and normally sleeps alot normally.. and yes, he seemed to be moving a bit slower but in one day!... it wasn't gradual...

[Age?]

not excessive diarrhea.. just pooped smelly green blobs but no more than his usual pooping...

He eats alot...so...

not bearing to take the risk of loosing him.... God... I took him to what the internet said was a "Exotic" Vet...

[Did you use resources like the FHL Vets List with
vets recommended by list members and Ferret Universe?
Look in these sites to find those if you need them:
http://ferrethealth.org/vets/
http://www.ferret-universe.com/vets/vetlist.asp ]

I left him there one hour and 15 min... When i returned, I was taken to a room where the dr wanted to talk to me... He finally comes in and has a rather gloom look on his face.. kinda to my surprise explaining I have a really sick pet...?? OK..I understand..

He says.. No, He could "Lay Down" by morning...

Damn, he didnt seem that sick so i figured it was something sudden and common...

He said he got some blood from him but very little ..only 3 drop's and ran a sugar or glucose test which came back very low.. "66" normal being 80..so...that was it...

[Insulinoma is treatable with Prednisolone and sometimes also diazoxide.
It is a pretty common ferret problem.
There are many resources:
http://www.miamiferret.org/insulinoma.htm
http://www.afip.org/consultation/vetpath/ferrets/PDF/insulinoma.pdf
and the FHL Archives
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/
are good places to begin learning.]

Told me he was sure he had tumors..and lots of them somewhere and no matter what was done wouldn't survive,,, TOMORROW MORNING?

...He brings in what looked like Poe... but 180 degrees different... no movement at all severely depressed.... eyes closed... He looked horrible... He said he gave him 2 shots.. Prednisone 10mg and injection of Bayrl 0.01

[If his liver is compromised Prednisone will not
work but Prednisolone will. That is a common
problem in ferrets.]

Gave me a vile of both to give him twice daily if he was alive... charged me 160.00 that was it... Poe looks like he is suffering now....vomiting etc..
Is this normal? I am so so sad... Ican't bare loosing him
..............mmmmmmm... Watching this precious loving friend of mine...leaving like this... I'm going to go get him now... Put his sleeping pad with me so i dont miss one second of him
thank you
