You might consider having his blood chemistry run. Mouth ulcers can accompany kidney disease and renal failure and the urine issues you mention are worth looking into further as well, just in case. We've had a lot of very old foster ferrets and a good many of them had kidney function issues . He seems a little young for age related kidney problems but it won't hurt to check.
