Subject: [ferrethealth] Red Skin With Rash On 5 Year Old
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My ferret Percy has had red skin for about a month now. It happened last year around the same time: the top of his nose got a bit red and then went away after a few months. His tail also got naked and black-heady but then came back after the fall shed.

This time around his whole body is red and he has a weird rash on his body as well. It's really little, red dots. His tail is also naked again. His ears get gunky over a few days and have ever since the first day I got him (almost 3 years ago).

He'll be 5 years old in December. He's eating, drinking, and pooping fine. He still has tons of energy and is sleeping a regular amount.

Any tips? I was thinking Adrenal with the red skin and naked skin but those are the only symptoms. I thought maybe allergies with the rash. I was also starting to think it's mites of some sort. But he's not itchy at all. I mean, besides the regular ferret amount, of course. And none of the other ferrets have icky ears like him.

The Vet I'm going to take him to should be opening this month so I'm just waiting until then. :) if y'all think it's serious there's a Vet I can run him to, though. It's just almost an hour drive each way and I have to borrow my Mom's car so I'm hoping to wait until the closer one opens.

Thanks!!
