Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Morphy's Mouth
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Blood tests were run today, results coming tomorrow morning. Urine test came back okay, no infections, so kidneys seem okay, but there's bile in it. Liver is having problems, and he apparently has some ulceration in his throat. I came home with sub q fluids to give, baytril to give sub q, amoxicillin to give orally, and I have milk thistle and pepcid to give orally. Morphy had 30 cc of sub q fluids at vet's around 5:00 pm, it's now 11:30 pm. I tried to feed him soup via syringe at 10:30 pm, which I've done for over a week now, and he freaked out, which he has never done. Ran around trying to gag and also clawing violently at his mouth. He did NOT inhale any, of that I'm sure. It's almost like he couldn't swallow, and it was burning his throat. He hasn't had any food since 2:30 today, 9 hours. He doesn't look good. I am thinking about giving another 30 cc of the sub q fluids to keep him hydrated, because if he won't take food, I don't know what else to do. I will try
some Hills A/D diluted in water, but I don't think it's the food, it seems more like he can't swallow.

ANY SUGGESTIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ARE APPRECIATED. The emergency 24 hour vet about 40 minutes away does not have a ferret vet on duty tonight.

Jeff
