We had another ferret who was just euthanized last week, an eight year old female, who had liver disease for about the past year or so. I don't recall the specific blood values, but the liver values were very high over this time period. She had a couple of episodes where she became lethargic and stopped eating and drinking, and was treated with baytril and metronidazole and sometimes amoxycillin when that happend.

In the end she started to develop lesions at mucous membrane boundaries that seemed to pop up almost overnight, and the vet told us these were related to the liver problems. She had been on Marin, a cat med that is supposed to support liver function. The vet said that there were some other meds we could try but it would take a couple of weeks to assess their impact. This old girl was pretty uncomfortable so we did what was best for her.

Hopefully you'll know more today after your blood work comes back. Good luck. The fluids should keep him going until you know more.

Jack
