My thoughts....

Ferrets do this as a normal reaction to eating. They were designed to eat whole prey. They would normally grab the meat and shake pieces loose to eat. You can see this behavior on wildlife TV shows with meat eaters.

Mine do that all the time. They love raw chicken.
