Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Second Deslorelin implant
To: "Ferret Health List" <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

The boy that I wrote about initially, Pop, did get his second Deslorelin im=
plant this week, 10 months after the first one. He also had a melatonin im=
plant in August. Unfortunately, it was also discovered this week that he h=
as a right adrenal tumor approx. 2.6 cm x 2.9 cm. Measured by ultrasound a=
nd very big. He=E2=80=99s been on prednisolone for a couple of months now,=
a total of about 3.0 mg daily, divided into 3 doses daily. It may be help=
ing to keep the tumor in check, but I don=E2=80=99t know for how long. The=
tumor is compressing the vena cava a little, and is also probably putting =
pressure in his intestines. I have a second vet, a more accomplished surge=
on, looking at the ultrasound pictures, but it looks as if surgery would be=
pretty risky. Pop is around 4 years old and still in good enough conditio=
n for surgery, but this surgery seems to have more risk than potential rewa=
rd, especially if it=E2=80=99s a carcinoma. Both vets concur that a tumor o=
f that size is probably a carcinoma.

I=E2=80=99m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what might best h=
elp Pop to have as much quality time as possible. He has a huge appetite s=
till but not a lot of energy to play too much. He mostly will sleep and ea=
t and play with me only when I initiate it, and even then, it=E2=80=99s usu=
ally only rolling around a bit and gnawing on my arm. He=E2=80=99s a big b=
oy, around 3.5 lbs.=20

ou wait after the first implant to do so, and how did you know that it was =
time for the second?
