Subject: [ferrethealth] bedding good/bad for ferrets
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I just adopted a ferret who was kept in a gray bedding material per local Petmsmart protocol. Does anyone know what this bedding brand is called? It looks like ground up newspaper and cardboard and resembles material I have found in mouse and squirrel nests in cabins. It seems it would be harmful to the ferrets with such small fibers breaking loose. It was scattered in the total bottom of the cage - he did have a hammie to climb into and he had a separate litter box. Any help or resources if this is unhealthy would be helpful. Cathy
[Replies MUST be restricted to health related ones
to be on the FHL. There are things which seem
like they may be harmful which are not and others
which seem like they may be safe which are not
so it would be good to have hard data on this if
any exists. There is hard data on some wood
selections (cedar toxic, pine an allergen for some
individuals):

the wrong address, paste in if you need to, or use the
scroll selection if sending from the FHL website.
Thanks.
