I took in a female rescue, approximately two years old. She had a sma=
ll bald patch at the nape of her neck. She had fleas and was scratching, so=
I assumed it was from that. Since then, the base coat has grown in. Howeve=
r, the guard coat has not and she now has an area of about 5" with only a b=
ase coat and no guard coat. She scratches incessantly. I've been giving her=
.1 mg of liquid antihistamine two times per day for about five days and th=
is stops the itching. My first thought is adrenal disease, but I've never s=
een it affect only the guard hairs and not the base hairs. Thoughts? Debbi=
