Subject: [ferrethealth] vomiting!!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a baby ferret that is vomiting after he eats, ive switched him to gerbers chicken babyfood beacuse he wanted nothing to do with his regular food. i have seen him drink a little bit from that water bottle on his own. I heard that it is ok to give ferrets dissolved/diluted pepcid ac? is that true? i would like to try and give him some before i feed him to see if that hekps him hold don some food. Please if anyone knows about the pepcid ac, or should i give him some pepto bismal? and how much?

[ That sounds like it might be a complete blockage.
Is he defecating? If not, then this ferret needs
emergency veterinary care. If ferrets who are
completely blocked do not get fast enough care
the by-products of meat digestion such as
ammonia build up in the blood stream and they
become too compromised to be saved.
