Subject: [ferrethealth] black stool
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Cocoawheats has had a good run of it since her pred was lowered. She has been playing more alert and all around quite improved. This morning I woke up to black tarry stool diarrhea like in small pools. There was one formed stool but still solid black. She also is more sleepy and lethargic..I wiped it on a napkin and it did not show red or blood but I still feel this is probably my worst fear (her upper GI is bleeding) because it is black. We have a vet appointment in an hour and was wondering if anyone knows anything else this could be as if it is her Upper GI bleeding and not an ulcer then there is no hope to bring her home. She has been on carafate for a month and she is not grinding her teeth and she is eating fine..which is why I do not feel it is an ulcer but from her lymphoma. Something in her abdomen is probably bleeding. Any input please share. I will probably be gone to the vets by the time this is posted. I just wanted any feed back if I should be thinking it could
be something else?? She was doing so well..
