To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Lynne and the Brats - Thanks for the web site on how to give Sub-Q fluids.=
=A0 I was also privately pointed to this one and with the two feel a bit mo=
re confident with what I am about to do after I type these e-mails.

Sukie (not a vet - but a WONDERFUL informative resource) - Thank you for al=
l your moderator comments.=A0
=A0
I will be sure to have the Vet do the urine pH and also ask if the suspecte=
d Kidney issues are acute or chronic at my visit in two weeks.=A0 Our ferre=
ts have a huge part of our walk out basement all to themselves so I know th=
at they did not get into any forbidden foods as the only food down there is=
their ferret food (EVO, ZuPreem, Totally Ferret) - also we have no grapes,=
currents, raisins or fruitcake anywhere in the entire house so that is not=
the culprits.=A0
=A0
Sukie recommended reducing phosphorus intake, replacing some of the food wi=
th cooked egg which is low in phosphorus, moving to a kidney diet, or reduc=
ing protein in general to reduce phosphorus.
=A0
So can anyone recommend ferret foods that fall into the category of a "kidn=
ey diet" and that are low in phosphorus.=A0 Again I am currently feeding my=
three fuzzes a mix of EVO Dry ferret food, Totally Ferret Active Diet, and=
ZuPreem Premium Ferret Diet.
=A0
I would also welcome any other advice or comments either on or off list (sm=
adaynnep@yahoo.com=A0)
=A0
Thanks
Penny

[A urine concentration test will also tell
just how bad the situation is. It's a very
useful test and the vet can run it when
running the pH test using part of the
sample for each.

There are actually several moderators
here and many of great comments members
get don't come from me but from them.
