Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret with bladder problems
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I just recently had major surgery done on Montey who was unable to
properly drain his bladder for a year. He was taken to three different
vets, and only the latest one found the real problem, prostatic cysts,
which are like two small water balloons on either side of the prostate.
After a very technical surgery he is finally emptying his bladder. I
still give him some valium to relax to bladder sphincter. He had out the
left adrenal a year ago, then the right before the cyst surgery so he is
also on pred. So far so good. Bob's chicken gravy makes all this palatable.
I just want to let others know that other problems can happen with the
bladder. There are photos of a dissected ferret with these cysts in
Quesenberry's book.
