Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Prednisolone Dosage for Lymphoma
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi, Kathleen, and everyone else,

That is a much higher dosage than has been used for my ferrets who
have had lymphoma. In addition, prednisolone can have adverse side
effects, like severe diarrhea.

Nyssa had that problem and we had to keep her pred dosage quite low.
To compensate we used long lasting injections once per month that
worked for her. We moved during the 19 months she fought lymphoma so
there were two vets. One used vetalog and the later vet used depo
medrol. Both were given once a month. Nyssa would be down the last
day or two before her appointment but always seemed to feel better
after. That may be an alternative you can discuss with your vet.

The usual disclaimer applies: I am not a vet nor have I played one on
TV. I'm just a ferret owner who has dealt with some of the same
issues you are facing.

All the best,
Caity and the dynamic duo
