Pred doses for treatment of insulinoma as opposed to treatment of the =E2=
=80=98aggressive lymphoma=E2=80=99 that you describe are vastly different. =
With aggressive lymphoma, you need to go all out to try to slow it down as=
much as possible, or you may only have a matter of a few weeks left with y=
our ferret. Your total daily dosage of 4.8 mg does not seem high for the p=
urpose that it=E2=80=99s intended. I am not a vet, I=E2=80=99m just speaki=
ng from my experience in trying to treat both insulinoma and lymphoma in th=
e past. Skimping on the dose that the vet prescribed could cut precious da=
ys or weeks off your ferret=E2=80=99s remaining life.
Be sure to give the prednisolone with food, and to watch for possible signs=
of ulcers developing. I have always mixed pred with soup, first heating t=
he soup, then mixing in the pred right before serving. Of course, if you d=
o this, you need to be sure that the ferret eats all of the soup, and thus =
gets all of the pred. That was never a problem for my ferrets.

[Prednisolone storage temp is 59' to 86' F
according to an online drug information site.
I do not know how short bumps up to higher
temperatures may affect it, or if it is compounded
how they might affect the range of possible
compounding agents. Some meds can deal with
short bumps to higher temps but check into that
with an expert like a pharmacist or pharmacological
text which may be at the vet's or at your pharmacy
for reading, or the manufacturer.
