We used Lantus human insulin on Pippin for almost 2 years, he did well on it, its a gentle long lasting insulin given twice a day for ferrets, it worked while the others did not. The dose varies but starting out at a dose of .5 units (its a U-100 insulin so you need human syringes not the U-40 that the vets use for their insulin) every 12 hours. It takes a few days to build up and create a steady dose being absorbed and can be slowly increased or decreased if necessary.
Pippin's dose varied over time from .02u to 7u. so its great that you are home testing and can keep an eye on how she is doing.
