Subject: [ferrethealth] My ferret stuart little is not feeling well...:(

Hi group. I am having a problem with my ferret.
Last week I noticed him straining to push and very little or nothing coming out.
I started to feed him 100% natural pumpkin(which helped alittle) but still nothing was helping.
So I took him to the vet. they did blood work, xrays, a full examination, gave him barium, an enema(spelling) and a laxative to take home. She told me that it looked like he was constipated, to rub his belly alot and to give him the laxative (laxotone) every 8 hours.
I asked about the duck soup I made (which consisted of organic chicken baby food, 100%natural pumpkin and ensure milk) she said also that was fine. I have been taking my babies here for years so I trust what she is telling me.
Now afte the vet visit, he started pooping, not like he used to but alot was coming out (which she said when he starts hes gonna poop alot) but now whenever I left him out the cage he will run for the box, go back to his food, run for the box, go back, etc etc. I took him out this morning and he just poops a little goes to the food box and 30 secs later he goes right back to the box like hes gotta poop.
His appetite is good, hes eating and drinking, he lost some weight but the vet said thats normal bc if hes constipated hes not getting all the nutrients from the food.
She advised me to take everything out of his box just in case he was eating the newspaper I line the cage with or the yesterdays news pellets I put in his poop box.
I also clean the cage numerous times aday just in case he is somehow licking or eating his own poop and pee and thats making him sick.
I just dont know what to do...he doesnt bounce around like he used to anymore.
Hes not even a year old (He turns 1 on feb 16th)
he doesnt want to play with him other ferret friends anymore.
Im lost and confused as to what to do. I spent almost 200 dollars at the vet last week and Im really tight fro cash. I mean I will sell or pawn anything for my babies....I just want my baby back to the way he was.
Im doing everything the vet said and I am researching on other natural remedies.
Its breaking my heart to see him like this, please if anyone has any advice or has been throught this please respond back to this.Thank you.-tearful stuart owner :(
