Just thinking if not done to have a regular urinalysis done, he could be urinating well but only smaller amounts at a time and not completely emptying the bladder, or feeling urge to urinate and has to strain.

Also, ferrets dont' get constipation, they can get hair balls, blockages, and such causing the constipation symptoms but don't get the hard stools that are consistent with constipation like in humans that are more due to lack of fiber in diet and lack of fluid in stools.

is he actually pooping normally? How many times a day, what does it look like when he does go? Diarrheal stools with straining could be a sign of inflammatory bowel disease or another issue.
